Licence and updates
Devices, working offline, and lapsing
Devices
A licence activates on a limited number of machines — 3 by default, more on some licences. The count is shown on your Licences page and in Settings → Licence.
Reinstalling Windows or changing a machine's hardware can make it look like a new device. If you run out of seats, deactivate the old one from the Licences page; it frees immediately.
Ropenode works offline
The licence is verified against a signed file held on your machine, not by calling us. You can fly, tether badly, or work on an air-gapped network and the application does not care.
That file is re-confirmed in the background whenever there is a connection, and it stays valid for 72 hours without one. A lifetime licence never expires, but must still be able to re-confirm itself at least once every 400 days — that is the only thing that makes a lost or refunded licence stoppable at all.
If you are offline longer than that, the app tells you why it has dropped to Free, in those words. It does not silently downgrade.
If a payment fails
Your licence keeps working for 14 days while the payment is retried. You are told; it does not fail closed on the first declined card.
If a licence lapses or is refunded
Paid features stop. Your work does not.
Ropenode does not delete, hide, archive or lock any project, file, repository or history when a licence ends. Projects beyond the free limit stay fully visible, readable and committable — they just will not start a new agent session. An agent that is already running is never stopped. Nothing you have to pay to get back is ever taken away.
