What is free and what is paid
Eight things cost money. Everything else in Ropenode is free, permanently, including all of the safety machinery.

That is the entire list.
How the project limit works
Free is three projects and three agents at a time. The project half is three separate rules, and it helps to know which one you have met:
- Keeping projects. Free holds three projects. To add a fourth, archive one you are done with from All projects (⌘) — archiving is reversible and deletes nothing.
- Opening projects. A fourth project tab is refused, and the dialog that says so can close one of the three for you and open the one you asked for.
- Running agents. Agents start only in the three projects at the front: your open tabs first, then the most recently used. Any other project stays readable, diffable and committable; it just will not start an agent until you close another tab.
How the session limit works
A session counts while its agent is attached — an open agent console, even an idle one. Free runs three at once. Closing a console frees its slot straight away. The limit never stops a session that is already running; it only declines to start one more, and the refusal says how many are running.
Free, and staying free
- Safe Agent Edits
- Per-turn undo
- Git
- Agent console
- WSL projects
- Editor, diff and search
- Terminal dock
- Sessions Grid
The safety features are free permanently, on every tier. Charging for the thing that stops an agent wrecking a client repo would be charging for the seatbelt.
Over the limit
Nothing is hidden and nothing is deleted. A project beyond the free limit stays visible, readable, searchable and committable — you simply cannot start a new agent session in it until you close another project or upgrade.
This matters if a licence lapses: your work is never held hostage. See If a licence lapses.
The model is not included
Ropenode drives the claude and codex CLIs and never holds a model credential, so your
Anthropic or OpenAI subscription is bought from them, at their price, with no markup from
us. See Your model provider account.
